Last year, I was working at various companies (Ingenico, Bankia) imparting a mix of general and business English to groups as well as one-on-one clients in person and online. Since I received my CELTA certificate, I have been further developing my teaching methodology and establishing curriculums, working mostly with individuals or groups at companies or language schools. Prior to this, I spent time as a language assistant in primary and secondary schools while simultaneously private tutoring or working for language schools, often preparing students for exams (Cambridge, TOEIC). Before I moved to Spain, I was working as an English instructor at a variety of international language schools where I was responsible for planning and delivering classes which stress practice and activities requiring all four skills, with an emphasis on communication. In addition to that, my duties included curriculum development of optional courses such as: pronunciation, slang and idioms, fluency and accuracy, and reading and writing. Moreover, I also assisted in assessing individual students’ levels for course placement purposes.
From 2014-2015, I was a member of the English staff faculty at International House Madrid, Inlingua Madrid, as well as a private tutor for McAleer Solutions. While working at these different academies, I completed my diploma in Module 1 (Understanding Language, Methodology and Resources for Teaching) and Module 2 (Developing Professional Practice) in the Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (DELTA).
I have varied and extensive experience teaching in Canada and abroad in Mexico and throughout Spain in primary and secondary schools, as well as to adults in language schools and various business sites. I feel confident teaching any level – from absolute beginner to proficiency, and general English or exam preparation, as I have prior experience with a wide range of levels and needs. Due to this, I feel fully capable of conducting classes to any age group and level and implementing a curriculum or creating one using my own resources.
