Former Headteacher and now experienced English tutor. Fun lessons, measurable results

Hello. I'm David Boddy and I've been tutoring for the past six years since I stopped being a Headmaster of a secondary school. I was the kind of Head whose door was always open and who encouraged pupils to relax, be themselves and focus on their work. What's more, I taught them how to do so. Happy students learn best and the best students are the ones who are not afraid to make mistakes! This builds what we call a 'Growth Mindset'. All my lessons have clear and measurable aims and objectives. They are very interactive - the more the student gets engaged with English the better. I also developed a REVISION & EXAM TECHNIQUE PROGRAMME which allowed GCSE students to improve by more than 2 grades over the course of our sessions. I also enjoy working with University Students and business executives who need to improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking. I don't believe in the teacher thinking he knows it all and that the student knows much less. Learning with a tutor is a united experience; if the teacher is not learning at the same time, he can't really teach. The most important thing is to be happy and make progress. That is my main aim in every session.
