I’ve been teaching English for sixteen years and in my experience, the best approach is to do a combination of exercises on the various aspects of English as well as conversational, reading and writing practice. Taking this approach allows you to both learn the rules of English and gives you a chance to put what you’ve learnt into practice with intellectual discussions, witty banter, article reading, creative writing etc.
I have some familiarity with many languages including Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Polish, Japanese et cetera and I have a greater degree of familiarity with Dutch and German.
