About me

Hello, my name is Modesty (and yes, that's my real name). I'm originally from California, though I went to university in Boston to obtain a B.A. in Writing, Literature, and general English studies. After graduating, I moved to Spain, where I began teaching English to primary school students, ranging in age from 2 to 12 years. After three years of teaching in person, I transitioned to online courses and have now helped numerous students–– children and adults alike–– improve their level of English and be more confident speakers. My specialty is conversational speaking, though I have helped various students prepare for the Cambridge Exam (levels B1 to C1). In my classes I rely on reading and writing exercises to improve vocabulary, grammatical understanding, and speaking ability. That being said, I utilize a personalized approach to design and organize my lessons in alignment with each student's specific level, their progress, and their ultimate goals.
