Hello! I’m Matt, a native English speaker from the United States with specialties in teaching Business English and IELTS test preparation. In 2008 I received my CELTA teaching certificate from the University of Cambridge, and over the past 12 years I have taught English in the US, South Korea, Poland, and Germany (where I currently reside), and tutored adult A1 beginners all the way up to the advanced C2 level. During that time I have also worked as a freelance copywriter and online marketer, helping native and non-native English speakers around the world to express their ideas more clearly and effectively. For students wanting to improve their communication skills (whether in writing attention-grabbing emails, drafting share-worthy blogposts, or crafting TED-Talk presentations), I’m glad to share my knowledge and provide coaching and feedback on your writing projects. I can also help you improve your spoken English, in particular: - how to introduce yourself to others for the first time - how to make “small talk” with friends and colleagues - how to get a high score on the IELTS Speaking Test In terms of my teaching style, I follow the modern “communicative” approach, focusing on practical speaking situations and with attention to both Accuracy and Fluency. In 1:1 lessons, this means that I try to give equal time to correcting your mistakes as well as building your skills and confidence to speak clearly and fluently. I’m also happy to adapt my lessons to fit your goals and needs.
