Hello I’m Karen, a language and culture passionate Spanish teacher. I’ve been teaching for the last 25 years and taught students from a wide range of backgrounds, bringing creativity and dedication to my lessons—from private home tuition to teaching at major language centres. I always listen and adapt to the pace and level to the student, addressing all the real needs of the language as well as those of the student, whatever their age or occupation. It has been over two decades of enjoyment, sharing worlds, as teaching and being taught is a rediscovery of one’s own personality through a new voice, a new character in a way, as the new language is acquired. In short, immersion in a new art! During my 25 years of experience, I have observed that there is no complexity in any language, only the desire and commitment to oneself. The frequency and time dedicated to learning are vital so that, ultimately, this language may well be the first to be mastered among many others. That is why, in my classes, I encourage having real conversations whilst rediscovering the beauty of this language that unites so many people around the world. Therefore, fun and play are vital, even if they may go unnoticed, as when we learn our mother tongue, it is a game and daily surprise of a new form of communication. Languages are tools, yes, but they are also the music of the heart's expression-the heart that expresses its vision of the world. I look forward to helping you achieve your language goals soon, so that you can truly savour learning Spanish just as it is experienced on the streets of South America and Spain - a part of my heritage as a Peruvian-Spanish woman. The richness of a language isn't found in textbooks; they are excellent guides, certainly, but they don't allow you to delve into the feelings of the real people who bring its cultural fusion and versatility to life. I assure you that in every class you'll even be able to sense the flavour of the dishes, the identity of the cultures, the vibrancy of the communities, and the strength of a land like so many others!
