I consider the subject of history to be one that encourages and fosters intellectual curiosity and my passion and energy as a teacher has always helped me form excellent relationships with my students and peers, and my attitude to learning, in a variety of fashions, ensures that students attain enthusiasm for the subject and achieve in this area.

I am a well qualified historian, with a range of other subjects, and am also knowledgeable on examinations and exam boards, as well as supporting parents with moving to a homeschool programme and looking into exam boards. I am currently employed as Head of KS4 and Head of History at ISS, a Seychelles based International School where I am responsible for teaching and monitoring history up to A2 level and accountable for the progress and well-being of students within KS4 (approx. 130). Previously, I held the post of Junior History Coordinator / Teacher of History / EPQ Coordinator at The Senior School, Nicosia, an established not for profit secondary school for students aged 11 to 19. Prior to this position I was employed as the History Coordinator at the British School of Gran Canaria, Spain and have previously held the roles of Humanities Coordinator at SCL International School, Thailand and Head of Year 7/Teacher of History at The Grove School (Newark Academy), UK. In these posts I have had the opportunity to gain experience in academic and pastoral management posts, and in teaching, through a combination of history and geography, as well as a number of other subjects, to a variety of students, nationalities and levels. Throughout my teaching career I have taught and gained an excellent grasp of the KS2 and KS3 History, Geography, ICT, English and Religious Education British National Curriculum, the OCR and Edexcel History GCSE specifications, AQA’s and Edexcel´s KS5 History programme and CIE´s History and Edexcel’s History and Geography iGCSE specifications. Additionally, I am enrolled as an EDEXCEL GCSE History Examiner, OCR GCSE Examiner and IB History Examiner and thus have an excellent knowledge of a range of exam boards and examination requirements. I have academic qualifications of the highest order, having graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a B.A. in International Studies (History, European Studies and English as a Second Language (ESL)), achieving a 2:1 and receiving top honours in the ESL field, going on to study my History PGCE at the University of Leicester. I was admitted to the degree of Master of Arts in Education with Merit (MA.Ed.) at the University of Nottingham in 2012 and was carrying out my Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in History research at the University of Nottingham (Part-Time), but have since taken a sabbatical from this program.
