About me

【🟧 About Me】Hello, I'm Yiya, from Guangzhou China. My native languages are Mandarin and Cantonese. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Economics and Business Management in France, and my Master's degree in International Public Relations and Global Communications Management in the UK. I have been speaking English for 25 years and French for 10 years. I can teach Chinese in four languages: Mandarin, Cantonese, English, and French (Chinese will still take up more than 70% of the class, because our goal is to practice Chinese). Unlike many Chinese teachers who focus only on teaching, I bring real work experience from multiple industries. I have worked in an environmental technology company on project negotiations, at Canton Tower leading international team communications, and currently in a telecommunications technology company researching artificial intelligence and the data economy. These jobs have given me firsthand experience in business negotiations, cross‑cultural coordination, and industry forums. My Chinese lessons are not just about textbook dialogues. I bring you the real Chinese that I have actually used and spoken. ——————————————————————————————————————————【🟦 My Teaching Approach】As a multilingual speaker (Mandarin, Cantonese, English, French), I not only understand the structure of Chinese but also know exactly what difficulties English or French native speakers face when learning Chinese. For example, verb conjugation in French and tense logic in English do not exist in Chinese. On the other hand, Chinese tones, measure words, and topic‑prominent structures are the hardest for English/French speakers to adapt to. I have gone through the process of learning English and French from zero, so I can put myself in the learner's mindset and help you find the easiest way to make progress. My teaching is not textbook centered. Instead, I focus on your specific needs, interests, and real life situations.————————————————————————————————————【🟩 First Lesson: Find Your Starting Point and Direction】In our first lesson, we will do three things together: 1️⃣Set clear goals: Travel, work, exams, chatting with Chinese friends, learning professional subjects, business negotiations? 2️⃣Discover your interests: Your hobbies, professional field, cultural preferences. I will turn these into examples and materials for future lessons. 3️⃣Assess your current level: A relaxed, no‑pressure check of your listening, speaking, and comprehension, followed by initial learning suggestions. ——————————————————————————————————————————【🟥 Regular Lessons (Speaking‑Based, Following HSK Levels map)】 1️⃣Beginner (1)Beginning: greetings, ordering food, shopping, asking for directions, taking a taxi, hotel check‑in (2)Basic communication: self‑introduction, numbers and time, describing weather and hobbies (3)Core pronunciation: Pinyin and tones, avoiding "direct translation" from English 2️⃣Intermediate (1)Daily life & at work: making plans with friends, talking about hobbies, job interview dialogues, phone calls, giving feedback (2)Intercultural communication: polite expressions, understanding implied meanings, social media posts and comments (3)Extended scenarios: renting an apartment, bank, hospital, trade fairs, business dinners 3️⃣Advanced (1)Professional and business speaking: business negotiations, contract discussions, speeches, debates, social media (2)Topics: artificial intelligence, data economy, tourism, marketing (3)Formal expression: reports, meeting statements. ————————————————————————————————————————————【🟪 Exclusive Course: Real Scene Challenges (for intermediate & advanced learners, 1–2 times per month)】 I will take you (online) to real locations in Guangzhou: markets, museums, shopping malls, old town streets. You will see real signs, hear real conversations, and (with my accompaniment) have short interactions with real people – for example, ordering milk tea, asking for directions, or buying vegetables. Why this works: 1. Highly authentic: the words you learn are immediately useful. 2. Stronger memory retention: learning a word in front of a real store sign sticks much longer than memorizing a list. 3. Overcomes fear of speaking: many who study Chinese for years are afraid to talk to a real person. With me by your side (remotely), even a simple "hello, thank you" becomes a huge breakthrough. 4. Guangzhou's advantage: a city where modern skyscrapers blend with traditional alleys. Every street can be a living textbook. ————————————————————————————————————————————————【🟨 My Class Style】 Each lesson includes a small challenge: a saying, a song lyric, a social media caption, or a cultural fun fact. My classes are flexible, engaging, and fully customized for you. In my free time, I enjoy playing the piano, snowboarding, and listening to electronic rock music. If you share these interests, we can turn them into class topics to make the language learning more interesting. ——————————————————————————————————————————————💡Welcome to book a trial lesson. Let's start from your interests and goals, and learn Chinese in the most natural way. I look forward to meeting you in our first class! 😁
