Hi everyone! My name is Tomas, and I would love the opportunity to help you improve your English, Portuguese, French, or Spanish through interesting and engaging conversations!
I currently live in Canada and work in the public sector in the project management field. I was born in Brazil but have lived half my life here. It's also where I learned English and French. Spanish came a little later when I felt like I needed a new challenge!
I have a huge passion for aviation, photography, sports and animals. My dream one day is to be able to go back to my hometown in Brazil and rescue all of the estimated 30,000+ cats and dogs that live on the streets.
I have taught informally to family and friends since I was 13. When I was 14, I took and passed the CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) from the University of Cambridge in the UK, coming 1% point shy of the highest mark/grade.
I also prepared a pilot friend to take - and pass - the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) English Language Test, which launched his international career - he is currently a pilot in Dubai, UAE.
My strong point is taking on a student who already has a decent knowledge of the language and helping them become more fluent, and acquire better and more extensive vocabulary. This doesn't mean however that I am not open to the challenge of taking on brand new students and starting from zero!
I am a big believer in always having classes with video ON, as our body language can definitely help in learning, pronunciation, and our own interaction and connection. I intend on using Google Docs as a whiteboard and sharing it later for you to keep any notes we take.
