Hola! Mi nombre es Sofía Geisel: soy cantante, compositora y tengo 9 años de experiencia dando clases de canto particulares, online y en academias. Este tiempo, además de darme la felicidad de conocer gente muy diversa, me ha enseñado que todos podemos cantar, solo hacen falta ganas, constancia y paciencia.
Si quieres aprender conmigo te ayudaré a buscar tu propio sonido y a descubrir las muchas posibilidades que tiene este instrumento maravilloso que es nuestra voz.
Aquí te contaré mi historia con la música que es lo que me ha llevado a querer ayudar a las personas que quieren cantar y conocer su voz.
Mi método es una mezcla de todo lo que he aprendido a lo largo de mi carrera como cantante y compositora. Empecé a los 16 años tomando clases de guitarra eléctrica en un programa de la Universidad de Chile llamado Muspop, durante este proceso, estuve además en un taller de teoría musical y otro de canto. Al año siguiente entré al mismo programa a estudiar canto, simultáneamente estudié con la destacada cantante chilena Denise de Aguaturbia. Luego de 4 años y medio, me gradué en Muspop y comencé a estudiar la carrera de Intérprete en jazz y música popular con mención en canto en Projazz, de la cual estoy titulada.
Me pasó que después de terminar la carrera sentí que me faltaban muchas cosas por aprender, así que dediqué un año a estudiar sola, a descubrir qué funcionaba bien para mí, ya que como tuve diferentes profesores, estuve frente a visiones muy distintas e incluso contradictorias. Habían muchas preguntas que me hacía, por ejemplo: ¿Cómo lo hacen los cantantes de rock para seguir cantando durante tantos años, si la técnica tradicional dice que esas formas son dañinas? o ¿Cómo hacen los cantantes para llegar a tonos tan altos con su voz completa? A mí me enseñaron a pasar a la voz de cabeza, y eso no sonaba con la potencia que yo quería; por otro lado, si lo intentaba hacer con voz de pecho sentía que al llegar a cierto límite estaba dañando mis cuerdas vocales y me cansaba muy rápido.
Dentro de ese proceso lleno de dudas, fui a una clínica de voz, donde conocí al profesor de canto Cristóbal Aragón y me pareció que su método me podía ayudar. Ahí conocí el método de Cathrine Sadolin que me ayudó a sacar lo mejor de mi voz y a entender que no hay una sola forma correcta de cantar, sino muchas y que nunca terminaré de aprender y experimentar.
Hablando de experimentar, me dieron ganas de hacer mis propias canciones y aproveché la instancia de mi concierto de título en el cual tenía que incluir contenido de mi tesis: Acercamiento al canto microtonal de Medio oriente, para hacer mi primer proyecto como compositora. Ahí creé mi banda, El mundo de Sufiyeh, con quienes hacemos una fusión que mezcla la música árabe y el rock. Esta mezcla nace de mi amor por la danza árabe y mi estilo favorito, el rock. Ya lanzamos nuestro primer single, Chiftetelli de fuego y estamos en proceso de grabación de nuestro primer EP: Los cuatro elementos. Mi último trabajo como compositora es un video musical totalmente autoproducido llamado Entre copa y suspiro, el cual puedes visitar en mi canal.
Tiempo después, llegué al teatro de Los Pleimovil como profesora de canto para la obra: Cántalo CTM! que se estrenó en enero del 2020 y que estuvo siempre a teatro lleno. Esta obra es un musical improvisado, lo que implica muchas dificultades para los actores, ya que tienen que inventar todo en el momento: la historia, las canciones, los personajes...todo!!!
Además me ofrecieron participar como reemplazo del tecladista en caso de que él tenga algún problema. Este trabajo consiste en que el tecladista va improvisando según lo que vayan creando los actores en el momento, una experiencia que me ha enriquecido mucho.
Luego de participar como profesora y tecladista, quise adentrarme en el mundo de la Impro, ya que es una herramienta muy útil que ayuda a la interpretación, la espontaneidad, la rapidez mental y la creatividad.
Ahora en estos tiempos de cuarentena, me he dedicado a seguir estudiando, estoy tomando clases de energía femenina, algo que agrego aquí porque me ha enseñado a enfrentar la vida en general desde otra perspectiva y me gusta traspasar esa visión a mis alumnos. También estoy tomando un curso de un año para ser Terapeuta de Reiki vocal, donde he ido aprendiendo a ver la voz no solo desde la técnica, sino que desde un lado espiritual y energético, que nos enseña que podemos sanarnos a través de ella. En el lado técnico, también he querido crecer, así que estoy tomando un curso de la vocal coach Cheryl Porter, que tiene una perspectiva muy diferente a la que yo conocía, a través de ejercicios difíciles y dinámicos. Y como profesora, tomo clases particulares de psicología y tomé un seminario de Pedagogía vocal y aprendizaje significativo para ampliar mi visión acerca de la enseñanza del canto.
Esa es mi historia y lo que me gusta plasmar en mis clases.
En primer lugar que cada voz es única y que todos aprendemos de forma diferente, por lo tanto las clases son totalmente personalizadas y adaptadas a tu voz, a lo que quieres aprender, a tu tiempo y a los estilos que te gusten. Si te gusta aprender de forma más práctica o también te va interesando la teoría musical. Te puedo enseñar a utilizar el piano o la guitarra como herramienta complementaria a la voz y si quieres aprender a interpretar, podemos hacer ejercicios de Impro para que te vayas soltando y corregir el como te ves en escena.

My method is a mixture of everything I have learned throughout my career as a singer and songwriter. I started at 16 years old taking electric guitar classes in a program at the University of Chile called Muspop, and the following year I entered the same program to study singing, simultaneously studying with the outstanding Chilean singer Denise de Aguaturbia. After 4 and a half years, I graduated from Muspop and began to study the career of Jazz and Popular Music Interpreter with mention in singing in Projazz, of which I am titled. It happened to me that after finishing my degree I felt that I had many things to learn, so I dedicated a year to study alone, to discover what worked well for me, since as I had different teachers, I was faced with very different and even contradictory visions . There were many questions he asked me, for example: How do rock singers do it to keep singing for so many years, if the traditional technique says that these forms are harmful? o How do singers get to such high tones with their full voice? They taught me to pass to the head voice, and that did not sound with the power that I wanted; On the other hand, if I tried to do it with a chest voice, I felt that when I reached a certain limit, it was damaging my vocal cords and I got tired very quickly. Within this process full of doubts, I went to a voice clinic, where I met the singing teacher Cristóbal Aragón and it seemed to me that his method could help me. There I met the method of Cathrine Sadolin that helped me get the best out of my voice and understand that there is no one correct way to sing, but many and that I will never finish learning and experimenting. Speaking of experimenting, I wanted to make my own songs and took advantage of the instance of my title concert in which I had to include content from my thesis: Approach to microtonal singing from the Middle East, to do my first project as a composer. There I created my band, The World of Sufiyeh, with whom we make a fusion that mixes Arab and rock music. This mix is born from my love for Arab dance and my favorite style, rock. We have already released our first single, Chiftetelli de fuego and we are in the process of recording our first EP: The Four Elements. Some time later, I arrived at the Los Pleimovil theater as a singing teacher for the play: Sing it CTM! which premiered in January 2020 and was always in full theater. This work is an improvised musical, which implies many difficulties for the actors, since they have to invent everything at the moment: the story, the songs, the characters ... everything !!! They also offered to participate as a replacement for the keyboard player in case he has any problem. This work consists of the keyboard player improvising according to what the actors are creating at the time, an experience that has greatly enriched me. After participating as a teacher and keyboard player, I wanted to enter the world of Impro, since it is a very useful tool that helps interpretation, spontaneity, speed of mind and creativity. That is my story and what I like to capture in my classes. First of all, that each voice is unique and that we all learn differently, therefore the classes are fully personalized and adapted to your voice, what you want to learn, your time and the styles you like. If you like to learn in a more practical way or you are also interested in music theory. I can teach you how to use the piano or guitar as a complementary tool to the voice and if you want to learn how to interpret, we can do Impro exercises so that you can let go and correct how you look on stage.
