As a German studies graduate with many years of teaching experience, I know exactly what's important when learning German and how learners can improve their German skills quickly and efficiently. I tailor my lessons to my students' level of proficiency and needs. I ensure that language learning is well integrated into everyday life, which includes actively applying what they have learned in everyday life. At the same time, grammar should not be neglected, so that learners can express themselves and write fluently and correctly in German, both professionally and in everyday life.
I teach mostly in German, but occasionally I resort to English, if the student is able, to make difficult material more understandable. Throughout all of this, it's very important to me to overcome students' fear of speaking and to motivate them as much as possible. Together we'll tackle the well-known problem of "I understand German very well, but I can't speak it." I believe that you have to make mistakes to acquire good language skills. I interrupt my students briefly to correct errors so they don't become habitual.
