I hold a Bachelor's degree in Music from the University of Antioquia. I have forged an artistic and pedagogical career that integrates rigorous academic training, stage experience, and a deep vocation for education. I began my training at the Diego Echavarría Institute with Cecilia Espinoza, and later continued at the Tunja Higher School of Music under the direction of Jorge Zorro. There, I also began studying saxophone with Raúl Mancipe and Carlos Parra, which led to my joining the Boyacá Symphony Orchestra as a saxophonist, solidifying my experience in instrumental performance.
Subsequently, I continued my saxophone studies in Bogotá with the late Julio Arnedo, and later with the late Cuban maestro Carlos Averhoff, deepening my technique, musical language, and expression. This instrumental journey provided me with a solid foundation for my work as a professional.
Later, I broadened my perspective at Goldsmiths, University of London, where I specialized in Jazz Arrangements and Contemporary Styles.
With extensive experience in music education, I have developed pedagogical processes that extend beyond the classroom, cultivating musical sensibilities, fostering creativity, and strengthening the connection between art and community. My teaching style is characterized by a deep respect for individual learning processes and the ability to connect academic knowledge with diverse popular contexts.
My artistic approach intertwines Latin American traditions with jazz and modern music, expressing an authentic, emotional, and transformative sound. As a performer, arranger, composer, and teacher, I represent a holistic voice within the contemporary Colombian music scene.
