I'm a CELTA-qualified freelance teacher, with experience in teaching levels ranging from A0 (complete beginner) to C1 (advanced). I am a proficient English speaker, as demonstrated by my CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English, Grade A, C2 level) issued by Cambridge Assessment English. As an Italian native speaker who managed to achieve the highest possible language certification offered by Cambridge examinations, I am more than aware of the difficulties Italians face during the process of learning English. I believe in a communicative approach, in prioritising an organic use of language over the mechanical knowledge that is so prevalent in state school settings. The lessons are held entirely in English (and yes, this works even with complete starter learners!), in accordance with the CELTA method - which is internationally hailed as the gold standard of ESL teaching. Learning materials and lesson focuses will be chosen in accordance to the personal goals of individual learners: for example, even though authentic materials are often the best choice if one wants to learn "real" English, they may not be as beneficial for someone who is preparing for an exam, or for who needs to improve academic performance.
