About me

Hello and welcome! My name is Ana Guerra, a certified C2 German tutor originally from Galicia, Spain. I know how overwhelming it is to have so many options for learning German—so many apps, courses, techniques, and resources. Too many choices! I have over 5 years of experience teaching German and a total of 10 years teaching languages (C2 English). Because I want to save you time and spare you frustration and failed attempts, my methodology is unique: As a beginner (at any A level), following a sounds-first approach is the key to gradually developing fluent speaking and listening skills. With my method, you gain a unique advantage over traditional learning. If you're a beginner, we build the right foundations from scratch by following the syllable method and using extensive connected speech and sound blending exercises, in the same progression German children follow to become users—not just learners—of the language. This way, you don’t just learn in theory; people will actually understand what you say, and you’ll feel truly competent and able to speak with ease. This is the biggest gap in German teaching so far, which is why I’ve covered it extensively in my new course series. This is the speech-building and read-aloud progression that children worldwide follow even before forming their first words. German has only 46 sound patterns, which can be automated in three weeks. If you’re just starting out, this is my top recommendation. In my extensive experience as a coach for students of all backgrounds, countries, and levels, issues with the German sound system are usually the most common. Anyone can use the many free resources available to learn mechanically. We won’t repeat or recycle what already exists and what you can do on your own.
