Hi! My name is Allison Borda Álvarez and I'm a Colombian professional singer (mezzo-soprano). I graduated with the highest academic honors and the highest grades with a bachelor’s degree in music with emphasis in Classical Singing from the Pontificial University Xaveriana in Bogotá, Colombia. I've been a singing teacher and vocal coach for six years now, supporting people from different ages and with different musical applications such as pop music, rock, jazz, soul, vocal coaching, and academic singing (classical music). I was an active chorus member of the National Opera Chorus since 2016 in Colombia where I performed with a very remarkable national and international directors and orchestras from all over the world, performing operas like: - Don Giovanni by W.A. Mozart, - Orpheus et Euridice by Glück, - The Marriages of Figaro by W.A. Mozart, and - Madama Butterfly by G. Puccini. Right now, I am an active member of the Philharmonic Chorus of the Bogotá's Philharmonic Orchestra, where I've had the honor of being directed by numerous worldwide known Orchestra directors like Andrés Orozco-Estrada and Josép Caballé, while making remarkable Operas like Puccini's Tosca, at the Julio Mario Santodomingo Major Theater, in Bogotá. in 2021. My approach to both singing and teaching is kindheartedly, natural, organic and intuitive, but most importantly, I try to give a space where you can be your own self without the pressure of everyday life, being conscious about mental health. In my classes, you will learn useful skills such as: 1. The importance and lots of examples of vocal warm-ups and cool-downs; 2. Body consciousness and how this affects the phonation when you sing; 3. Awareness about you vocal and mental health; 4. A better way to approach to concepts like breath support, body control and relaxation; 5. The best tips for manage new repertoire, among others! I consider vocal pedagogy a very important part of my heart and life, so I'll be 100% sure that you feel comfortable, relaxed, and happy with the vocal process that you'll start to have together.
