Hi everyone. I am Edward Yang (Yu-Cheng Yang), and I am a current Speech and Hearing Sciences student at the University of Washington. I’m a certificated Mandarin teacher from Taiwan, and I have been teaching Mandarin overseas for the past 7 years in different educational institutions from primary school to university. I specialize in conversational Mandarin; however, I am flexible to adjust the class’s content and pace based on each student, and I would make students feel satisfied after classes because I aim to make all my classes practical and useful, and provide assignments for students to practice and review outside of classes. My teaching philosophy is "Connection not perfection", and the process of learning a language should be fun and rewarding.

🌟 Chinese Language Teacher with International Certification and Three Years of Teaching Experience 🌟
Hello, dear Chinese language enthusiasts!
I’m from China, born in a border city in Northern China. My hometown was home to people from various nationalities, such as Russians and Mongolians, which made me accustomed to interacting with different cultures and languages from a young age. At 12, I moved to Shanghai with my parents and later successfully completed my bachelor’s degree at Tongji University. At 24, I went to Germany to pursue my master’s degree at the Technical University of Berlin. After graduation, I worked as a research associate and project manager at the Chinese Center of TU Berlin, gaining valuable international experience.
Currently, I am a doctoral candidate at the Technical University of Berlin and an online language teacher.
Language and Cultural Experience
In addition to Chinese, I am fluent in German (C2) and English (C1). Having spent 12 years in Northern China and 12 years in Southern China, I have gained profound insights into the cultural differences, conflicts, and integration between the two regions. Over the past 12 years in Germany, I’ve experienced and developed a deep appreciation for the cultural differences between the West and China.
Furthermore, my partner is German, and we have a lively and adorable child. As a mother providing a trilingual environment (Chinese, English, and German) at home, I have developed a strong understanding of language teaching and methodologies tailored to different age groups. I firmly believe that learning a language goes beyond mastering vocabulary and grammar; it’s about understanding and merging cultures and ways of thinking.
My Teaching Style
In my classes, I create engaging topics and use a variety of teaching methods to ensure you learn Chinese in a relaxed and dynamic atmosphere—no boredom guaranteed! Besides language skills, I also share fascinating insights into China’s culture, history, and lifestyle, giving you a comprehensive understanding of this captivating country. Once your Chinese improves, I look forward to having meaningful discussions with you about your hobbies and your country’s culture!
Multilingual Teaching
In addition to teaching Chinese, I offer English and German conversational practice to help you express yourself confidently in different language environments. If you’re planning to study or live in China or Germany, I’d be happy to provide advice and assistance.
Personal Interests
In my free time, I enjoy playing the piano and accordion, dancing, and traveling. I’m also an animal lover and have two adorable dogs—a Border Collie named Romeo and a Beagle named Flipe. I’d love to chat about dog training and exchange experiences!
Individual Learning Plans
Every student has unique needs and goals, so I will have a trial lesson with you to discuss your learning objectives and create a personalized learning plan tailored specifically to you.
I look forward to welcoming you to my class and embarking on an exciting and fulfilling language learning journey with you! 😊

Hi, this is Annie, born and raised in China who speaks Mandarin and Cantonese natively, English in professional working proficiency and basic Spanish. I am a Chinese teacher certified by Confucius Institute Headquarters.
Here are my three teaching principles:
No.1 Tailor-make plan for students according to their age, study purpose, background, language base and personality.
No.2 Apply multiple teaching methods such as excise, role acting, quiz, game and after class assignments to improve students' listening, speaking, reading and writing ability.
No.3 Teach patiently in any circumstances and enjoy every moment of communicating with my students.
Through years of teaching, I have gathered and edited a series of material of HSK/HSKK preparation, Mandarin pronunciation and Chinese character, as well as tutorials of different life and working scenes.
My trial lesson is half getting to know you and your needs, and half showing what my class like and who I am as a teacher. In the end, we will discuss and make a specific plan for your study. Please message me if you have further questions.
