What makes my class different?
A relaxed and encouraging atmosphere comes first! In my class, it's okay to make mistakes; the real shame is not daring to speak! I use lots of interesting topics, games, and situational dialogues to get you practising almost without realising it. Haha, actually, making mistakes is one of the fastest ways to learn – let's discover this together!
"Practicality" is more important than "perfection". I won't scare you off with complex grammar right away. We'll start with what you need and want to say most – like how to order food, make friends, or understand your favourite Chinese TV shows. You'll be able to use what you learn immediately!
A pace tailored for YOU. Everyone learns differently and at their own speed. I pay close attention to your progress and adjust our content and pace accordingly. You are the centre of the class, and my teaching revolves around your needs.
What does a typical lesson look like?
We'll start with a relaxed "warm-up chat" about your week and a review of the last lesson. Then, I'll introduce the new topic in a clear and engaging way. Next comes the most important part: the interactive practice! This might be a role-playing game, a group discussion, or analysing the lyrics of a Chinese song together. Finally, we'll summarise and make sure you know how to practice afterwards.
I firmly believe that a good teacher is not just an instructor, but also a cheerleader and a friend. I'm here to support every step of your growth.

Hi there! I'm Mia, and I come from Chengdu, a city in southwestern China that's famous for two things: giant pandas and hot pot. Every time I talk about my hometown, I can't help but think of the sizzling, spicy hot pot and those adorable, bamboo-chewing pandas. If you ever visit Chengdu, I highly recommend going to the Panda Base and trying out an authentic Sichuan hot pot—it's an experience you won't forget!
I truly love teaching. Right now, I'm teaching English to two 9-year-old boys. Through spending time with them, I've come to realize that language learning doesn't have to be serious or stressful. In fact, a relaxed atmosphere and genuine conversation are the best "teachers." That's why my teaching style is very natural and easygoing—it's just like chatting with a friend. You don't need to be afraid of making mistakes or worrying about your pronunciation. In my class, mistakes are not only allowed, they're actually great opportunities to learn and improve!
Outside of teaching, I have a lot of other passions. I love food—whether it's a famous Chengdu snack or a specialty from another region, I'm always eager to try it. I also enjoy watching TV dramas, especially those with engaging stories and vivid characters. And I love traveling—seeing new places, meeting different people, and gaining a deeper understanding of different cultures. All of these experiences help me become a better teacher and a more open-minded person.
