Hello, my name is Ciara and I'm from Edinburgh in Scotland! I love guiding students on their learning journey and look forward to helping you meet your goals! I really enjoy talking about film, television, and literature, and aim not just to improve your ability to speak English, but also to ground our sessions with an understanding of Anglophone culture. I have lots of previous experience of teaching students English online and am also an experienced tutor in film studies, having taught university classes both in-person and online. Please note that I offer lessons designed to improve your English conversation, and don't offer exam preparation lessons. I'm TEFL certified and have several years experience of teaching English online. My work as a university film studies tutor has also added to my understanding of how best to support learners. I am experienced at lesson planning and take a student-centred approach to teaching which emphasises moving at the student's pace and taking time to consolidate concepts which prove difficult to grasp. I'm very patient and easy-going, and like to keep lessons informal so that students are relaxed. I am keen to tailor sessions to the interests of the student, as it always easier to learn when you're engaging with something you care about! I like to build our lessons around different types of media, allowing you to gain a broader experience of spoken and written English.
