Hi! I'm Tobi. I studied Biology as my premedical course of study and am currently attending medical school, where there's even more biology involved (like, a lot more: biochemistry, cellular biology, genetics, immunology, etc.), which is much harder than one could ever imagine I realized somewhere down the line that I had a passion for using analogies to explain things out I would use anything I could get my hands on to explain a concept that just wasn't clicking for someone else, even if it meant making up a little story along the way. That's the same mindset that I bring to my tutoring - I learned a huge portion of my science material by doing this, so why not try to help someone else understand what I did?! Don't be afraid to ask a stupid question. I'd much rather take 20 minutes explaining the same concept 3 different ways, and have someone walk away understanding fully, than to have them nod their head through an entire lesson and leave just as confused as when they arrived. This is the philosophy I use when actually teaching the stuff too; I love to explain things in-depth, but I also know when people just don't need all the details. While in medical school, I have taught biochemical processes to my classmates, as well as students in junior classes, and I absolutely loved it! Now, I tutor mostly high schoolers in Biology, focusing on cellular biology, genetics, and general anatomy and physiology, and I strive to break things down as much as possible in order for someone to understand. I love to adapt my classes to fit the needs of the students. Whether they need an entirely new lesson on something foundational that they never grasped in the first place or need a refresher before an exam, I can meet you wherever you need to be.
