Hi, I’m Akif! I teach English and Japanese. I grew up mainly in Osaka, graduated from the University of South Florida, and now work in tech in Japan. I use both languages with colleagues and clients to explain ideas, train team members, and work through problems together. I’m a native English speaker, fluent in Japanese, with four years of experience across tutoring and translation. Living in Japan and the US has made me curious about the little cultural differences in how people joke, express opinions, show respect, and build friendships. I enjoy helping students understand those details and choose expressions that suit the situation. Outside work, I love soccer, fitness, meeting new people, and making YouTube videos about life in Japan. Storytelling is a big part of that! We can practise sharing your experiences, expressing your personality, and keeping conversations going through topics you actually enjoy. We’ll start by discussing your goals, interests, and current level. Lessons can focus on everyday conversation, workplace communication, interview practice, or situations you’re preparing for. We’ll combine speaking practice with useful vocabulary, grammar, and natural phrasing. I’ll give you clear corrections and explanations in English or Japanese, then finish with a short review of what to practise next. Whether you want to make friends, travel, or speak more confidently at work, tell me what you’d like to be able to say. We’ll work on it together!
