As the holder of a teaching diploma of the Greek language from the University of Aristotle of Thessaloniki and a Master 2 of research in Classical Letters from Paris IV-Sorbonne, I created learning supports specific to teaching Greek to French-speaking people based on my experience of teaching at home or on the Internet. My students are very diverse: children and adults, people who want to learn the Greek language as a foreign language or bilingual people or even Greeks who live abroad. Hello, Everyone! My name is Eftychia (or Effie), which means “Happiness” in Greek and I offer happiness to the people who would love to learn Greek. I have lived in New York but am currently on a Greek island. In New York, I worked in Greek-bilingual schools while studying at Hunter College (CUNY). I am also currently working on my PhD in Digital Media and Communication at the Ionian University of Greece. Most of my students are Greek-American and bilingual. I have 13 years of teaching experience in New York and in Greece, teaching Greek as a first and as a second language. I can teach Greek (A1-C2 level) depending on my students needs. I am highly experienced in preparing individuals for the GCSE, ellinomatheia and regents (certificates of proficiency in Greek language). Of course every student is different so I make sure to provide a customized program for everyone wanting to learn greek, specified to your needs, while moving at your pace. My methodology is based on Constructivism which is the notion that people actively construct their own knowledge, and that reality is determined by your experiences as a learner. The major concept is that my students use their previously learned knowledge as a foundation and build on it with new things that they learn. My subject expertise is: modern Greek and Greek history, not just the basic history that is written in handbooks, but from the “inside” history.
