I'm Sophie, a recent graduate of the University of Chicago, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in computer science. I began tutoring in 9th grade and continued through college, totaling 9 years of tutoring. My coursework and previous tutoring experience enable me to offer tutoring across a wide range of subjects. My offerings include: math (elementary arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra 1&2, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, & calculus); science (biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy & physiology ); English (literature, grammar, composition); and computer science (C/C++, Python, JavaScript, SQL, algorithm analysis). I can also provide tutoring for a selection of AP classes, SAT/ACT preparation, and college admission essay writing. I primarily tutor high school students, but I have also worked with middle and elementary schoolers. I am particularly passionate about math, which is many students' most hated subject. Math is a language; it has its own vocabulary, syntax, grammar, and semantics. As a tutor, it is my job to translate the language of math into my students' "learning language." Some like visual learning—pictures and graphs. Others prefer example-based lessons that relate to a "real life" experience, or perhaps tie in to a concept from another class. Sometimes students benefit from thinking aloud. Certain students want time to work through a new problem on their own before I give the lesson. My favorite part of tutoring is figuring out my students' learning language. It is incredibly rewarding for both of us. I can’t promise to turn a math-hater into a math-lover, but I can promise to make math more accessible and help my students succeed in class. J'ai enseigné les arts plastiques et appliqués à différents publics, de l'enfant à l'adulte pendant 4 ans en région Toulousaine. J'ai principalement enseigné en école privée auprès de jeune qui préparaient des BTS, mais aussi en faculté et à domicile. Je peux appuyer mes cours sur un référentiel de formation, faire de l'aide à la préparation de concours d'entrée ou d'examen, ou créer du contenu de cour spécialisé à la demande en fonction des besoin de chacun. Avoir travaillé avec des publics variés me permet aujourd'hui de m'adapter aux niveaux et besoin de chaque apprenant. Je peux donner : des cours de dessin, de dessin techniques, d'utilisation de la suite Adobe (Photoshop, indesign et Illustrator) et de design de produits. J'ai perfectionné par le biais d'un long séjour en Australie ma maitrise de la langue anglaise et je peux également assurer des cours d'anglais, discussion, soutien scolaire. Le français est ma langue maternelle, l'écriture et la littérature sont deux activité que j'affectionne, je peux donner des cours de français tous niveaux, du soutien scolaire pour des élèves francophone ou l'apprentissage des bases pour des non francophones.
