About me

Hello! My name is Serhii! I graduated from university with a master's degree. I am a certified teacher with a 150-hour TESOL and 120-hour TEFL certificates. I've also finished several courses from Arizona State University and University of California, Irvine to enhance my teaching skills. I have been working as a teacher for 2 years. MY TEACHING STYLE centered on the Communicative Approach is the most suitable and effective to teach people from different backgrounds and age. Their goals are also different, therefore, they need to develop all four skills; reading, listening, writing and speaking. I love using authentic materials in my classes such as articles from newspapers, magazines, restaurant menus, documentaries and songs. I find language games very useful because having fun makes students feel engaged and motivated. I also support information gap activities where students are missing the information they need to complete a task so they have to talk to each other to find it. In addition, I use other approaches to meet my goals as well. For example, the Affective Humanistic Approach helps to overcome a student’s fear of language learning and lower their affective filter which reflects in a high performance of learning.
