For beginner and intermediate players. My method focuses on teaching you to play songs by ear on piano or guitar (or any instrument). This approach is so vital for anyone who wants to really understand music on the same level that we understand our native language. For beginner and intermediate players. My method focuses on teaching you to play songs by ear on piano or guitar (or any instrument). This approach is so vital for anyone who wants to really understand music on the same level that we understand our native language. After getting familiar with your instrument, as well as some basics of how music works, we will jump right in by choosing one of your favorite songs to learn. I will introduce proper technique, exercises, and music theory concepts along the way in a natural progression, grounding them with musical examples and making sure you know how to hear them, not just play them. Using this method you will also learn to explore your creativity and how to compose your own music. Homework comes in the form of a weekly practice routine consisting of exercises, song practice, and creative composition challenges. For intermediate students who already have a good grasp on how to use their ear and can play sufficiently, we can dive in to learn more difficult pieces and advanced concepts. This includes how to read sheet music, analyzing harmony and reharmonizing, transcribing jazz solos by ear, composing and arranging for multiple instruments, music production on the computer, and many others, depending on the interests of the student.
