Hello, I'm Lesley, a native British English speaker now based in Spain. I'm a friendly, patient, and enthusiastic tutor who genuinely enjoys helping students grow in confidence and fluency.
I am University educated, TEFL-qualified (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and have over 20 years of teaching experience in a range of roles . I specialise in helping intermediate to advanced adult learners (levels B1 to C2) build confidence and fluency in English.
I use reading as a key part of my lessons, as I believe it’s one of the best ways to learn English in a natural, meaningful way. We use well-written, up-to-date articles from newspapers and magazines on a wide range of topics – anything from climate change and politics to food trends or the latest Netflix release. This variety not only keeps things interesting, but also helps you build a broad, relevant vocabulary that reflects what people are actually talking about in everyday life – not the stilted or outdated phrases you find in textbooks.
Reading this kind of material helps improve every area of your English: vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, comprehension, and idioms. It also gives you a better understanding of British culture, society, and current issues – all while keeping your learning fresh and engaging. During and after reading, we have relaxed conversations and discussions about the content, which gives you a chance to use new language in context, ask questions, and practise thinking and responding in English. This combination of reading and speaking helps you become more fluent, more confident, and more able to express your own thoughts clearly and naturally.
