About me

Hi! I am Johan van der Merwe from Cape Town in sunny South Africa. I am a professional English teacher with vast experience in the teaching of English. My majors were English Literature and Geography. I furthered my studies and completed my Master's degree focusing on the teaching and acquisition of English as a Second Language. Recently I also completed a TEFL certificate course. My teaching experience of more than 30 years ranges from teaching in secondary schools from grade 8 -12 and tertiary institutions as well as teaching in the Middle East. I was also appointed as senior marker of the essay paper in the National Senior Certificate examination. Currently I am teaching online and my classes are relaxed and interactive with clear objectives set for each lesson. I will be most happy to be your English teacher to help you achieve your goals for English be it writing, speaking, reading, listening skills or even academic writing or Business English.
