Hello, my name is Jacob and I am from London, UK. I am a certified IELTS tutor and have a Masters degree in teaching English as a second language. I have been an English teacher for almost 12 years. I currently live in Munich, where I have been for 6 months. Previously I was based in Saudi Arabia and worked at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology teaching English to staff, students and other members of the community. I also taught academic IELTS to prospective university students hoping to study in Europe, and the US. Additionally I ran academic courses on writing/presenting scientific research. I have 2 dogs, a Golden Retriever and a particularly troublesome German Shepherd who occupy a lot of my time. I have also recently taken up windsurfing and Scuba diving. After completing my degree in Russian Studies and my Cert-tesol qualification I moved to Russia to work as an English teacher, firstly with international house and then with a number of other language schools. I also worked as a tutor for a variety of students. I have also spent my summers working for a language school in London teaching students from all over the world IELTS preparation. I have experience of teaching students of all ages from 5 to adult and all abilities, general English as well as exam preparation (Cambridge and IELTS). I completed an MA-Tesol (Masters degree in English Teaching) at the University of Nottingham) in 2024. I am also a certified IELTS instructor. I like my students to feel comfortable, to gain confidence in communicating and learning, therefore my lessons focus on communication, though all my lessons are individually tailored so that they can meet the needs of the student and help them achieve their goals.
