Among my greatest passions there is absolutely teaching. Of teaching, I particularly love being faced with kids who are different from each other, all with a story, with dreams. My approach to teaching, developed over the course of more than five years, is heavily based on listening, both verbal and non-verbal. I listen to the student when he talks to me about his difficulties, I listen to him when he doesn't answer my question or when he is not very active during an explanation. Listening is essential to create a bond of mutual trust and to ensure that teaching progresses in a rhythmic and optimal way.
I started giving private tutoring when I was still 20, initially, to be honest, I didn't reap the fruits of my work. The students I followed showed only faint signs of improvement. This led me to seriously question my teaching method and to understand that, to do this job, you have to commit yourself to being totally there, with that person, for the entire duration of the lesson. Every occasion can be a good one to understand what the is the real difficulty that keeps the student from improving. If there is some gap to fill, or if there is no desire to practice. Through active listening I learned to catch these little clues and my work began to pay off more and more. The students I have followed this last year have all avoided debt in mathematics and physics, even though they also started with serious failings. This filled me with joy.
