About me

Hi. Alan here. I live with my family in a small town in Galicia, Spain, where my partner and I run a small English school. I've worked in the UK, Italy, Poland, Spain and Libya. I've worked with adults, teens and children, and in the fields of business, tech, seafaring, research and general English, of course. I've worked as Director of Studies for private schools and summer camps, supporting and observing teaching staff. I'm especially interested in speech, pronunciation and fluency. As a sideline, I've translated and proofread documents from installing power grids to child psychopathy. In my spare time I sing and play music and enjoy the outdoors.

Alan es un muy buen profesor. Es una persona muy creativa y divertida. Intenta siempre explicar todos los conceptos de la mejor manera posible hasta que lo entiendes. También está pendiente de que pronuncies correctamente. La comprensión oral es muy importante y cuenta historias y debes tú repetirlas para comprobar que realmente has entendido lo que cuenta. Lo recomiendo para cualquier edad, pero sobre todo niños y adolescentes. Como sabe bastant ... e español, también eso es muy bueno porque sabe relacionar los sonidos de su idioma y compararlo con el español. He estado muy contenta con él, he ganado soltura y confianza para hablar en inglés. Además creo que es muy buena persona.

Llevo cerca de mes y medio teniendo clases con Alan, y mi "miedo o vergüenza a hablar han desaparecido por completo". Me ha dado mucha confianza para no tener miedo a cometer fallos, trabarme o pronunciar mal alguna cosa. Alan ha sido mi tercer profesor en esta plataforma, y debo decir que hasta ahora no me he topado con un profesor como él, pero supe que iba a ser un acierto en cuanto ví su video de presentación. Ayuda muchísimo que una perso ... na ame lo que hace como él, su interés, sus exigencias en cada clase y sobre todo la dinámica metafórica que utiliza para que recuerdes sí o sí el significado de todo; se distingue de una enseñanza convencional la cual odio y no era lo que buscaba, así que he acertado de pleno.
