Hi there! I'm a Mandarin tutor from Shanghai, born and raised in China. I’ve had a deep love for Chinese traditional culture and classical poetry since childhood, and have been immersed in the beauty of the Chinese language for over 20 years. I'm passionate about literature and was awarded First Prize in the national “Ye Shengtao Cup” Writing Competition in 2019. I also served as a Chinese class representative for six years in middle and high school. I've never stopped studying Chinese literature and consistently read over 30 books a year. I hold a Level 2-A certificate in Mandarin proficiency, ranking above 80% of test takers. In addition, I’ve studied Chinese calligraphy for over 6 years and can write beautifully in both pen and brush script, with strong command of language and writing skills. I have three-year experience teaching Mandarin in Shanghai. I've provided one-on-one tutoring for over 10 international primary and middle school students. My students come from a wide range of countries, including Pakistan, Portugal, Thailand, and South Korea, and vary in age from young children to teenagers. My lessons cover Chinese homework help, listening and speaking practice, reading comprehension, writing, and cultural enrichment. I always tailor my teaching plans to meet each student’s goals and learning style, ensuring they can improve their Mandarin skills in a fun and supportive environment. I’ve also helped native Chinese-speaking students prepare for writing competitions. One of them placed in the top ten for three times in a row. I focus on flexible, personalised teaching methods to help students of all backgrounds learn Chinese effectively. I teach pinyin, character recognition, speaking, reading, and writing. For young learners, I use fun games and interactive activities to keep them engaged. For adult learners, I incorporate traditional culture, literature, and real-life scenarios to help build clear Chinese thinking patterns. Each student is unique, so I design individualised lesson plans that suit their pace and goals. In class, I review previous content, break down new material step by step, and help students build a clear framework of knowledge. My teaching also includes writing drills, themed cultural essays, and regular feedback to help students write clear, logical Chinese. At the end of each lesson, I use quick review tasks and interactive quizzes to reinforce key learning points. I mainly use HSK materials and tailor-made PPTs, along with resources like the International Curriculum for Chinese Language Teaching and official HSK teaching guides.

Hello! My name is Amanda. I am a professional Chinese teacher with many years of international teaching experience, and I currently live in France. I am a certified teacher holding an Advanced International Chinese Teaching Certificate. I taught Chinese to international students for five years at a university in China, and later taught Chinese courses for three years at a university in the United States. Teaching students from different cultural backgrounds has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career, and my classes have always been very well received by students. My professional path is also quite international. After my teaching experience, I completed a Master’s degree in accounting in the United States and worked at PwC in Boston. I later moved to France and obtained a Master’s degree in Accounting from ESSEC Business School. These experiences gave me a deep interest in cross-cultural communication. Currently, I am also learning French myself. This experience helps me understand very well what adult language learners really need. 😉 Many traditional textbooks are either too childish or not very engaging for adults, so in my classes I prefer to use materials that are meaningful, interesting, and intellectually stimulating. 😊 In our lessons, I first take some time to understand your level and your goals. Then we design learning materials together based on your interests, including reading materials, videos, and conversation topics that are both interesting and challenging. My interests are quite broad. I enjoy reading (both fiction and non-fiction), traveling, music, philosophy, history, art, and culture. These topics often become great conversation material in class, helping students improve their Chinese in a relaxed and natural way. I believe language learning works best when students feel comfortable speaking and making mistakes. Every lesson is adapted to your level and your interests, whether you are a beginner or already have experience learning Chinese. In addition, my background in accounting and finance allows me to help students who want to improve their Chinese in professional or business contexts. 😊 💼If you are interested in business communication in Chinese, we can design targeted lessons to help you communicate confidently. I look forward to meeting you and helping you on your Chinese learning journey!
