Γεια σας! I am Katerina, 30 years old and live in Thessaloniki, Greece. I have a BA in Greek Philology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with a grade of 8.94 and a MA in Sociology from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.
Ι have over 6 years of experience with teaching Greek to foreigners in the Open Universities (Volkshochschulen) in Bayern, Germany as well as in private language schools and preparing students for the Examination for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Greek (CGL) and for the Greek Citizenship Examination. Moreover, I have the EUROLTA Certification (Foreign Language Teaching to Adults).
I like setting clear personal goals with every student in order for the progress to be obvious even from the second lesson. I am a positive, patient, kind, supportive and creative person with knowledge of teaching psychology. I can adapt any material in the needs of every student depending on his/her goals and I can teach in a way natural to every student.
Being an avid learner of languages myself, I know first-hand the trials and tribulations of learning a language and have developed some unique ways to help the student learn in a fun and efficient way. I can teach "by the book" but also outside the box! Central elements of my lesson are humor, honesty and generally a good-willed stance :)

J'aime fixer des objectifs personnels clairs avec chaque élève afin que les progrès soient évidents dès la deuxième leçon. Je suis une personne positive, patiente, gentille, encourageante et créative avec des connaissances en psychologie de l'enseignement. Je peux adapter n'importe quel matériel aux besoins de chaque élève en fonction de ses objectifs et je peux enseigner d'une manière naturelle pour chaque élève.
Étant moi-même une passionnée des langues, je connais de première main les épreuves et les tribulations de l'apprentissage d'une langue et j'ai développé des méthodes uniques pour aider l'étudiant à apprendre de manière amusante et efficace. Je peux enseigner « selon les règles » mais aussi en dehors des sentiers battus ! Les éléments centraux de mes cours sont l'humour, l'honnêteté et généralement une attitude bienveillante :)

My way of teaching is relaxed, friendly, and conversational; I always work with my students and tailor our lessons to their individual needs. I try to make the class less stressful and as enjoyable as possible.
If you are a complete beginner, the initial Greek lessons will focus on the basics; I will teach you how to read and understand the sounds of the Greek alphabet, combine syllables to formulate words, use the articles, and greet in Greek. “Kalimera”. We will have simple conversations, but as we go on, they’ll become more complicated: “Γειά σου, τι κάνεις;” (Geia sou, ti kaneis;)
You may want to learn just enough for your Greek summer break. If that’s the case we will have lessons to get you ready for your summer days in Greece. We will have speaking based on real-life situations such as “how to introduce yourself in Greek”, “order your favourite food or drink”, “ask for directions,” and so on.
For advanced speakers or students who want preparation for the exams of the Greek language certification, the lessons will be intense and structured, we will have plenty of grammar activities, speaking and listening practice. Together we will explore the colloquial expressions of the Greek language, and the idioms, we will discuss your favourite topics of conversation and you will also get acquainted with the Greek mythology, literature, music and plenty more.

Γεια σας! My name is Petros!
I am a graduate of the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Crete. I did my master's degree in Ottoman history at the same university in cooperation with the Institute of Mediterranean Studies and in 2023 I will complete my PhD thesis at the same institutions.
Also in 2022 I completed the "Seminar in Teaching Greek as a second/foreign language: Theory and Practice" at the University of the Aegean.
I have a lot of experience in foreign languages, as I have dealt with several in the past years. English (C2), Turkish (C1), French (B2), German (B1) and Ottoman Turkish!
I have experience of teaching Greek to immigrants. I try to adapt the lessons according to the level of the students. Our lessons will include knowledge of music, cinema, food and other aspects of Greek culture. As I am also familiar with the Turkish language I can explain similarities between the two languages in terms of vocabulary as many Greek words come from the Turkish language.
