About me Hi. My name is Jesse. I am a native English teacher from Minnesota, USA. I currently live in a small town in Chile. I am married and have a daughter and a small puppy. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, traveling, and enjoying cuisine from around the world. I also enjoy meeting people from different countries and learning about them and their cultures. Qualifications & Experience I have been a teacher for 25 years. I have worked in public schools, institutes, universities, and online companies in Chile and in Minnesota. I have taught online for eight years and have worked with private students and companies online. This includes children, teenagers, university students, adults, and professionals. I have taught all kinds of English: conversation, business, tests like IELTS and TOEFL, interview and presentation preparation, and English to live abroad. I have a BA from the University of MN and two TEFL certificates. I speak English, Spanish, and Portuguese. I have also studied a little Japanese, Chinese, Italian, and Amharic. This has helped me understand how students learn language and why speakers of these languages make certain mistakes, and the problems they have. I have worked with students from all over the world. Teaching Approach My priority is on getting a student to be able to understand and speak the language. I make sure to challenge the learner in every class. We work on all aspects of the language: vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, listening comprehension, correct use of idioms, etc. In my classes the student always gets to speak and always gets feedback. These classes help build confidence, and are also effective at improving the student's skills. I offer personalized classes to individuals online. All classes are online. Classes: -Conversational Classes These classes focus on communication skills: how to order food in a restaurant, what happened on the last vacation, what to say in a job interview, etc. In these classes, the teacher and the student discuss various topics, and the teacher provides feedback. The classes are an opportunity for the student to express themselves without feeling nervous or embarrassed. The classes progress at the student's pace. -International Exam Preparation -(TOEFL, IELTS, GRE, GMAT, TOEIC, etc.) These classes help students pass international exams. We have assignments and lessons on the platform. Classes can be individual or in groups. -Academic English These classes are for university students who are studying and need help with written assignments and tasks. -Business English In these classes, we practice situations that may arise in the business world.
