Hello, I’m Gamal. “Why do I even need algebra?” “Why should I learn calculus?” “Where did this equation come from?” “How do I apply it?” “Does this even make sense?” These are valid thoughts, and they are exactly what we work on. Mathematics shouldn’t be a collection of formulas that you are expected to memorize and use without understanding. You should know where an equation comes from, what it means, why it works, and when to apply it. It should make sense. You’ll learn with an Associate Professor and PhD in Astrophysics, but these are not lecture-hall lessons. They are clear, practical conversations where confusion is welcome, questions are encouraged, and every step has a reason. I have extensive experience teaching mathematics at school and university levels. I teach IB, IGCSE, A-level, AP, and other advanced mathematics courses, as well as university mathematics for science and engineering students. We work directly with your course topics, class material, and past-paper questions. Step by step, you will learn to read problems carefully, choose an appropriate method, explain your reasoning, and write solutions that earn full marks. For Year 11–12 students in Australia and New Zealand, lessons can also be tailored to HSC Advanced or Extension Mathematics, VCE Mathematical Methods, or Specialist Mathematics, with your ATAR and university-entry goals in mind. My approach is simple: understand first, then practise. We build the foundations you need, connect new ideas to what you already know, and work through problems step by step. When something seems complicated, we break it down. When a formula appears out of nowhere, we look at where it comes from. When you know a method but don’t know when to use it, we practise recognizing the type of problem and choosing the right approach. We don’t just ask, “How do I solve this?” We also ask, “Why does this work?” “Why do I need this?” and “What does this actually tell me?” That is how you move from memorizing mathematics to actually understanding it. For exams, past papers help turn understanding into exam performance. The goal is to help you reach the point where you look at a difficult question and think: “I know how to start this.” And eventually: “Wait… this actually makes sense.” If you’re a parent, the change I want you to see is simple: Not: “Can you help me solve this?” But: “I think I know how this works. Let me show you.” That’s what we’re working toward. A note about homework and exams: I won’t do your homework for you or simply give you the answers. Send questions at least two days before the lesson so we can identify the difficult idea, understand the method, and practise with similar examples. For exam preparation, please contact me well in advance. Strong results come from building understanding and practising consistently—not from last-minute revision.
