Hi, I'm April, a native Mandarin speaker from Beijing. I have been teaching for more than ten years — in classrooms, one-to-one and in small groups — first as a teaching director and later as founder of my own training school. In 2024 I began teaching Chinese as a foreign language full-time, mostly to adults: from complete beginners building pinyin and pronunciation from zero, to intermediate learners who want to lose their accent.
I taught before I was formally trained: I started working with foreign students first, then completed systematic training in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and later earned my IMCA International Chinese Teacher Certification (Senior).
I'm new to Classgap, but I'm not a new teacher — and being new here means I have the time to prepare carefully for every student I take on.
What I teach:
- HSK 1–6 courses and exam preparation
- Conversational and everyday Chinese — you speak from lesson one
- Business Chinese: meetings, emails and workplace small talk
- Chinese through culture: Traditional Chinese Medicine, festivals, the I Ching and Daoism
How lessons work: if you are a complete beginner, I explain grammar and instructions in English. From intermediate level up, I teach mainly in Chinese so that you start thinking in Chinese. After every lesson you receive a written summary and practice suggestions.
I teach adults only (18+).
