TO LEARN A LANGUAGE, FIRST YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO LEARN I am a native English teacher, born in Oxford, with more than 15 years of experience. In my classes I emphasize humanistic teaching and authentic use of the language. By basing the content of the classes on what students need in their daily lives, my students can experience and feel that the language is not an academic subject, but a living representation of real life. "Humanistic education" is a dynamic educational process that includes all relevant aspects of people's real lives, according to their needs. By studying with me, what my students get are the tools to learn effectively and autonomously. I am looking for motivated students who are eager to learn. Let's have a free 20 minute interview to get to know each other and clarify any doubts. PHILOSOPHY "TO LEARN A LANGUAGE, YOU DON'T NEED TO STUDY IT". You really don't need to. Children do not study their mother tongue, yet by the age of 4 they already have the kind of fluency that most adults would love to have in their second language. So what am I saying? During my many years teaching English, I have found myself asking one BIG QUESTION. Why have I met some students who have a much higher level of English than others? What do they all have in common? I think I have found one of the answers: They were all interested in something, anything, that motivated them to expose themselves to more English. Their interests motivated them to expose themselves to English and, likewise, the English they were exposed to was extremely interesting to them. "SO, TO LEARN A LANGUAGE, YOU JUST NEED TO BE INTERESTED IN THE CONTENT." Think about how children learn their native language. They don't study the language, but they are extremely interested in participating in life. They see a world of possibilities that they want to be a part of. Intrinsically they are the most motivated language learners out there. And they learn the language without even studying it because they are interested in what the language describes. "WHEN THEY ARE INTERESTED IN THE CONTENT, LANGUAGE LEARNING COMES NATURALLY." METHODOLOGY HOW DOES MY METHODOLOGY WORK? In my classes, students encounter activities based on topics of all kinds. Topics such as: - Productivity - Health - Science - Meditation - Technology - Travel - Genetic Engineering Whatever will interest my students. So students learn about the topics, and improve their English in the most natural way. - THEY GO DEEPER INTO THE TOPICS THEY ARE MOST INTERESTED IN. THEY SELECT WHICH TOPICS THEY WANT FOR FUTURE CLASSES. -THEY DO A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES FOR DIFFERENT ENGLISH SKILLS, MOSTLY FOCUSED ON CONVERSATION AND SPONTANEOUS USE OF THE LANGUAGE. - THEY CREATE PERSONALIZED FLASHCARDS TO ADD TO THEIR ANKI DECKS, ONE OF THE MOST EFFICIENT METHODS TO FACILITATE MEMORIZATION AND GRASP OF NEW CONCEPTS. ANKI IS A DYNAMIC, INTERESTING AND NATURAL WAY TO LEARN A LANGUAGE. The only thing students need is curiosity. I recommend a minimum of two hours per week of classes, and between 5 and 10 minutes every day working with the ANKI memorization system. To find out what the Anki system is, I suggest looking online for the introduction in the "Anki manual".
