Hi, I’m Yijing, your Mandarin tutor.
Have you ever felt that Chinese is like a heavy door, with grammar as a complicated lock and culture as a mysterious mist? Don’t worry — you’ve found your guide. My mission is to help you learn Chinese in a way that is both fun and effective.
What makes my teaching unique?
I graduated in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and hold a national Mandarin proficiency certificate. I have nearly two years of teaching experience and currently live in Chengdu. I also organize cultural activities, such as Gongfu tea rituals, to bring the language to life.
The seven challenges — and how we solve them.
Many learners face common problems. For words with multiple meanings, we don’t just memorize definitions. We learn full sentences in real situations, like using “意思” in different contexts.
For tone changes, we practice tones in natural speech, just like linked sounds in English. I’ll guide you until your spoken Chinese sounds natural.
For similar words, we use contrastive sentence practice. For example, “知道” (know of), “认识” (know personally), and “了解” (know deeply) become clear when you see them side by side.
For grammar rules that feel hard to use, we ask: “Would a real person say this?” A sentence can be correct but not natural — and I’ll help you tell the difference.
If your vocabulary feels limited, I’ll give you richer ways to express yourself. For example, move from “你好” to “很高兴认识你” to the more elegant “幸会”.
For stress and tone of voice, we work on how emphasis changes meaning. A simple “你怎么在这儿?” can show surprise, displeasure, or curiosity, depending on your tone.
And finally, Chinese grammar habits are different. In English you say “She is beautiful.” In Chinese we say “她很漂亮” — no “is” needed. Once you understand this logic, speaking becomes much easier.
Who is this for?
Whether you are a complete beginner or can already hold a basic conversation, I will help you solve these issues step by step. My classes are speaking-focused, clear, and patient.
Welcome to my class. I look forward to hearing your stories and learning about your culture — in Chinese.
