Hello everyone!
I’m Sara. I was raised bilingual in Spain (German/Spanish) and have also lived in Germany and England.
I majored in English and minored in Philosophy from the University of Munich and have a Master's in Medieval and Renaissance Studies from UCL. Over the past decade, I have done work as a freelance teacher, translator and editor in all three languages. I am a Cambridge CELTA-certified (Certificate in Teaching
English to Speakers of Other Languages awarded by the Cambridge Assessment
Department of the University of Cambridge) and DADIC-certified (Diploma de acreditación docente del Instituto Cervantes = accrediting diploma for the teaching of the Spanish language, awarded by the Cervantes Institute). I am currently working on getting my language teaching certification for German, as well. In these past few years I have taught in all three languages and served as language instruction consultant to other fellow teachers.
I know that to many people learning new languages appears overwhelmingly difficult, to the point that your brain gets blocked while trying to produce a phrase, out of fear of making one of the seemingly thousands of possible mistakes. I strongly believe the most effective learning environment is the one where the student feels welcome and the teaching focuses on their actual interests and needs. So whatever language level you’re at and whatever your goal is (being able to communicate during holidays, improving your vocabulary/grammar/comprehension/pronunciation, feeling more confident when speaking/writing ) …
