To whom it may concern. Good afternoon. First of all, thank you very much for taking the time to read this letter. Let me briefly introduce myself. My name is Mathías Zanatto, I am from Córdoba, and I am an architect who graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism, and Design at the National University of Córdoba. I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Environmental Management of Urban Development at FAUD, UNC, and am in my second year of a bachelor's degree in Anthropology at the same university. I was Director of the Environment for the Municipality of Estación Juárez Celman, north of the city of Córdoba Capital, from 2020 to 2023. From a very young age, I have felt an interest in and attachment to the natural environment around me, and the care and preservation of the environment in every activity I undertake. During my time in primary and secondary formal education, I had the opportunity to participate in various activities related to the formation of human and environmental values. During my time at university, I had the opportunity to specialize my education through research teams, workshops, educational exchanges, and national and international competitions. In that sense, I consider myself a restless person who is constantly seeking answers to the questions that arise every day. This led to the opportunity to bring together all the knowledge I had acquired up to that point, materializing it in my final degree project in Architecture, which I have attached to this message. There, I was able to pour in a kind of knowledge acquired through interdisciplinarity and cultural baggage built up year after year: sustainable development, pre- and post-treatment of sewage effluents, environmental land use planning, configuration of living spaces from environmentally friendly perspectives, generation of new river landscapes in urban environments, environment and health, waste management and policies, among others. In that sense, based on interdisciplinarity, I am interested in being graphic-conceptual when generating content to explain and inform about a topic. I believe, now more than ever, that a concept accompanied by images and audio-visual references is key when delving into new concepts, ideas, and paradigms. In class, we begin by gaining a general understanding of the subject matter we are going to explore, and then we move on to concepts that come together and allow us to understand the whole. In the years that I have been giving private lessons to middle and high school students, I believe this methodology has yielded interesting results; in addition to grasping the concepts, I am interested in creating a new experience in each person's educational process. Finally, I would like to leave you with a quote from Danish urban planner Jan Gehl, which represents my thoughts and actions regarding the environment, the creation of spaces, and respect for the footprint that we humans leave in our daily lives: “A living city is always under construction.” A student with the right tools contributes to the care and preservation of their environment and has the ability to learn, teach, plan, and imagine. A student, a citizen, is a promising social actor in their near future. Thank you. Mathías.
