Laura
About me
My name is Laura and I'm a native Spanish speaker, born in Barcelona, a cosmopolitan city where languages and cultures live side by side. Growing up there taught me from a young age that communicating is a way of opening yourself up to the world. That curiosity about languages has always been with me and has shaped both my personal and professional path. I hold a degree in Hispanic Philology, and my greatest passion is literature. For me, reading is a way of travelling without leaving your seat, and I try to bring that same excitement into my lessons. I believe that learning a language goes far beyond grammar: it's about discovering new ways of thinking, feeling and seeing the world. For the past five years, I have been teaching Spanish to students aged 8 to 18. With younger learners, I use games, songs and stories so they learn naturally and have fun along the way. With teenagers, I focus on connecting with their interests, setting challenges and using up-to-date materials that give real meaning to what they are learning. Adapting to each age group and each personality is one of the parts of my job I enjoy most. I have also taught English to students aged 8 to 18, which has given me a valuable perspective on language learning from both sides of the classroom. I have a B2 level of English, with a C1 level in speaking, and I spent a year living in Ireland, an experience that had a real impact on me. There, I experienced first-hand what it means to be a foreigner: facing a language that isn't your own, searching for the right words, making mistakes, laughing at them and gradually gaining confidence. That year taught me the importance of patience, perseverance and a supportive environment when learning a language, and today I can put myself in my students' shoes with much more empathy. When needed, I can also use English to clarify doubts and make explanations easier to understand. I never stop learning. I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Secondary Education Teaching and in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, which allows me to incorporate innovative methodologies and offer lessons that are increasingly dynamic and effective. As for my personality, I am a very open, approachable and receptive person. I love getting to know my students and creating a relaxed atmosphere where they feel free to participate and make mistakes, because I know from experience that mistakes are a natural part of learning. A positive, respectful environment makes progress come much faster. What I love most about my work is being able to spread curiosity and motivation. Seeing a student discover a new word, dare to speak up, or get excited about a text is the greatest reward for me. If you are looking for a native teacher with solid training, real classroom experience and a genuine passion for teaching, I would be delighted to accompany you on your learning journey.
