About me

Hello, I’m Derek, a mechanical engineer and further-education lecturer with more than 25 years of professional experience across marine engineering, oil and gas, manufacturing and facilities maintenance. I also have five years of experience teaching engineering learners at SVQ, NC, HNC and HND levels. I teach Maths, Physics and applied Engineering Science by connecting theory to practical, real-world examples. My lessons are structured around each student’s current level, learning goals and examination requirements. I can support Scottish National qualifications, Higher and Advanced Higher courses, as well as GCSE students throughout England. I explain calculations step by step, check understanding regularly and provide patient guidance with revision, exam technique and engineering applications. I welcome secondary-school, college, university, apprenticeship and adult learners.
