Los carnavales más famosos en España son el de Cádiz y Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Este último se parece un poco a los carnavales de Río de Janeiro en Brasil y el concurso de la reina del carnaval es muy famoso. Las concursantes pueden llevar trajes de hasta 5 metros de alto y 4 metros de ancho y pesar hasta 500 kilos. En cambio, en Cádiz los carnavales se basan más en tradiciones populares. Durante todo el año la gente se prepara para el concurso de chirigotas, que son canciones satíricas sobre la actualidad del país. En Orense, Galicia, el carnaval o Entroido puede durar hasta 5 semanas. As pantallas son los personajes típicos en Ginzo de Limia y llevan máscaras pintadas que recuerdan al diablo. Su atuendo característico se reconoce entre otras cosas por las campanillas que rodean su cadera. En Verín, el traje típico pesa más de 25 kilos y se llama cigarrón. Madamas e galáns son los personajes característicos del carnaval de Cobres y son muy costosos, ya que el traje indica el estrato social.

The most famous carnivals in Spain are those in Cádiz and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The latter is somewhat similar to the Rio de Janeiro carnival in Brazil, and the Carnival Queen competition is very famous. Contestants can wear costumes up to 5 meters high and 4 meters wide, and weigh up to 500 kilos. In contrast, in Cádiz, the carnivals are based more on popular traditions. Throughout the year, people prepare for the chirigotas competition, which are satirical songs about current events in the country.

In Orense, Galicia, Carnival, or Entroido, can last up to five weeks. The "pensadores" (screens) are the typical characters in Ginzo de Limia and wear painted masks reminiscent of the devil. Their distinctive attire is recognizable, among other things, by the bells around their hips. In Verín, the traditional costume weighs over 25 kilos and is called a "cigarrón." "Madams and gallants" are the characteristic characters of the Cobres Carnival and are very expensive, as their attire indicates social class.
