My method is focusing on your goals. Not everyone starts learning a language for the same reasons an thats what defines your goal. Some are learning for business meetings, others for scholars degrees, and some other for traveling. Once we have your goal defined I like to know about hobbies and personal preferences of my students, this is to have this topics on class ass much ass possible and generate a space of interest. Movies, stories, rol playing games are some of the activities of gradual immersion that are usual on my class.
