My name is Ahmed Squalli Houssaini, a private tutor in mathematics, physics, chemistry and computer science based in Montreal, with over 10 years of experience. I work with students from secondary school through university, across the Quebec, French (AEFE) and English-language curricula.
My background bridges two school systems. I completed the French Baccalauréat with a specialization in Mathematics before moving to Canada, where I earned a B.Sc. in Computer Science, Finance and Mathematics from McGill University, followed by an M.Sc. in Applied Computer Science from Concordia University. This dual background gives me a precise understanding of what students in Montreal's French schools experience, and allows me to adapt my teaching to the exact requirements of each program.
I specialize in the AEFE program — the curriculum followed at Lycée Marie de France and Collège Stanislas. I know the textbooks, the exam formats, the marking expectations of the French Baccalauréat, and the specific challenges at each level from collège through Terminale. For Quebec-system students, I cover secondary 1 through 5, as well as cégep courses NYA (differential calculus), NYB (integral calculus) and NYC (linear algebra).
My teaching approach is built on one principle: understanding before memorization. I don't move on until a student genuinely grasps a concept, not just recognizes it. I work from the student's actual difficulties rather than a generic program. Every session is tailored to their level, their gaps and their goals — whether that means catching up on missed material, preparing for an exam, deepening their understanding, or making the transition to the next level.
One thing that sets my tutoring apart is between-session support. Students can reach me at any time with questions — a problem they're stuck on the night before a test, a calculation step that isn't clicking, a marked paper they can't make sense of. This support is included in the rate, at no extra charge.
I offer in-person sessions in Montreal as well as online lessons via Microsoft Teams and OneNote, with a shared digital whiteboard and real-time screen sharing. Small group sessions (2-3 students at the same level) are also available, which reduces the cost per student without compromising the quality of the session.
With over 100 students accompanied and a 5.0 rating on Google, my goal has stayed the same for 10 years: every student leaves a session understanding more than when they arrived
