Hi! My name is Iain Dykes and I have a master's degree in Natural Sciences from Trinity Hall, University of Cambridge. Since graduating, I have spent over four years in the education sector in various roles. This includes two years as an English teacher in Beijing, as well as periods as a science and maths teacher in UK secondary schools, and online tutoring. I am a firm believer that the most successful teachers are enthusiastic learners themselves. As a scientist, I am fascinated by the world around us and it is my ambition to pass that passion for nature on to my students. I have supported students to improve their grades at the primary, GCSE, A level, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels. My teaching approach is as follows, 1. I start with a diagnostic test which gives me an understanding of the student's strong and weak areas. 2. I create lesson plans based on the results of the diagnostic test and the suggestions from the student. 3. During the lesson, I explain the concept and then solve example questions. 4. After the lesson, I send practice questions to help cement the student's understanding. 5. If someone needs an immediate lesson without taking the diagnostic test, I am more than happy to accommodate that. I aim to provide a valuable learning environment in the class and I am open to feedback. The ultimate objective is to not just improve student's understanding, but also ensure that it gets reflected as improved grades.

Depuis 2014, c'est avec passion que je donne des cours de soutien scolaire. En centre (Intelligence School, Les Cours Legendre) ou à domicile, du primaire à la Terminale, ces cours ont permis aux élèves que j'ai eu la chance d'avoir en charge, de mettre le doigt sur leurs lacunes mais surtout sur leurs atouts. Ils ont ainsi repris confiance en eux et augmenter leur moyenne dans les matières enseignées et aborder le reste de l'année avec sérénité. Désormais, je propose des cours de soutien et aide aux devoirs, en ligne. Que tu viennes des Antilles, de la France hexagonale ou d'ailleurs, je t'attends pour ton premier cours. Il est encore temps de changer ton année. Titulaire d'une Licence et d'un Master de Chimie, c'est d'abord par hasard que j'ai commencé à donner des cours de soutien scolaire. J'avais besoin, comme beaucoup d'étudiantes, de gagner de l'argent. Mes aptitudes et mes facilités au niveau scolaire m'ont conduit naturellement vers le soutien scolaire. J'ai véritablement été la première surprise de me rendre compte que j'aimais beaucoup donner des cours. Tisser des liens avec l'élève, lui redonner confiance en lui, me sentir utile, redonner goût aux études ... sont depuis depuis 2014 mes moteurs. Tisser des liens est pour moi une partie importante des cours. C'est important pour moi que ma méthodologie s'adapte à chaque élève, à leur caractère, leurs aspirations, leurs projets, leurs besoins ... Je m'efforce de rendre le cours accessible en vulgarisant la science et en l'illustrant dans la vie de tous les jours
