Hi, I am Jenny :D 🌸About me🌸 I am a British English native and have an honours 2.1. degree in Japanese language and contemporary society from Oxford Brookes in England and have lived and worked in Japan. I teach Japanese children English online (in Japanese) and I am also a private online Japanese tutor. I have three children myself (5, 9, 13) and have worked in education for over 10 years. I have experience in teaching both children and adults in Japan, the UK and online. I have certificates in 120 hour TEFL including exam preparation, business English and teaching young learners. I hold my Cache Level 3 certificate in supporting teaching and learning and have certificates in teaching SEN and understanding Autism. I have experience in teaching children and adults who are neurodiverse and have learning difficulties. My classroom is a free from judgement zone and open to all, I can adapt lessons to accommodate any stumbling blocks that you may have when it comes to learning and we can work together to find what works for you :D 🌸Online Classroom🌸 My lessons are interactive and fun. The classroom is different to most that are currently offered (I searched everywhere to find the right fit!) As such, during the lesson the student has the ability to write on slides - (perfect for when we are practising characters!), type post-its, draw pictures, interact with games and type in both English and Japanese. 🌸Lessons🌸 I have written two courses, one which is for absolute beginners and one which is a course on JLPT5 that is for students that are 100% confident on hiragana and katakana. Each student has their own personalised learning link that they can access in-between lessons. It includes vocab that we have learnt in the lesson and anything else that the student may be struggling with/wants to learn. It can be accessed on a mobile and has a learn function and also a test via quiz function. This can be accessed via laptop/desktop for younger learners that may not have a phone. 🌸Young Learners🌸 I teach children from ages 9+. Lessons are simplified and we play lots of games to concept check. Stars and confetti are given to children when they get things right and to incentivise and build confidence. I also have lots of effects that I use in the classroom to keep children engaged. When they are ready and have learnt some fundamentals, students we learn in a Japanese world that I created ( like a stripped back Minecraft) that children can walk around in, there are learning tasks in there whereby they can unlock items for their own house which they can choose and modify have in the world. Everything is in Japanese, we have a police station, school and even a McDonalds which is often a big hit!! To incentivise homework (which is interactive so that they can do it independently - hurrah!) I can give out gems. Their gems are saved on their user file so that they can save for mods for their house and even pets such as baby dragons. My ultimate goal with young learners is that they are happy, learning and are having fun. 🌸WhatsApp Support🌸 I am available outside of lessons for support with learning Japanese, if you're stuck, ask me! That's what I am here for :D There is no such thing as a silly question and mistakes are very welcome, that is the only way we learn! 🌸My Passion🌸 I know how hard the Japanese language can be to approach as an English speaker. I believe we learn best when we do, rather than when we are just spoken to. Actively participating in your learning helps things sink in and stick. My goal is to take the fear out of learning Japanese and look at the many tips any tricks we can use to unlock the language by creating an interactive learning environment which can be accessed anywhere in the world. 🌸My proudest Japanese 'moment'🌸 My proudest moment when learning Japanese was many many years ago when I told a dog in Japan to 'sit', and it sat !! A simple thing but I thought, if a Japanese dog can understand me I am doing okay! 🌸Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, I am friendly :D🌸

I have worked with students from Japan, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, South Africa, France, Australia, and beyond. My approach is built on one principle: every student is different, and every lesson should reflect that. I don't use generic programs or one-size-fits-all textbooks. From the very first session, we work on what actually matters for your goals (whether you're relocating to Brazil, raising bilingual children, preparing for professional communication, or building toward long-term fluency). What makes my teaching different: • Completely personalized lessons and custom-designed materials for every student • Deep expertise in Brazilian culture, social etiquette, and professional communication • Certified in dining etiquette and luxury hospitality (The British School of Etiquette, London) • Advanced Japanese speaker (JLPT N3) - I understand firsthand what it means to learn a language as an adult • High student retention: many of my students have been with me for over a decade I work with a small number of students at a time — by design. Each person receives my full attention, completely personalized materials, and a learning path built around their real life. I'm selective about who I work with, because that's the only way I can give each student the quality they deserve. My lessons are especially suitable for students who: • Prefer clear explanations and organized lessons • Want to build confidence step by step • Need support in grammar and conversation • Are preparing for living or working in Brazil • CELPE-Bras exam preparation For children: I use storytelling, games, songs, and visual activities to create a natural and engaging learning environment. What you can expect: • A clear and structured learning plan • Personalized materials • Consistent guidance and progress Trial lesson: We assess your level, define your goals, and introduce my teaching method. Important: • Trial lesson is offered once per student • Lesson packages are required for continued learning Book a free 20-minute trial and let's talk about your Portuguese.
