I am a native English speaker from Ireland, with TEFL certificate. I offer online and face-to-face classes focused on developing the use of both conversational and professional English. I am currently a university law student with Spanish in the penultimate year of my degree. I have three years of experience teaching music to students ranging from 4 to 75 years old, and that has taught me the different ways in which individuals prefer to learn. Therefore, my lessons are flexible and guided by the needs of the student. For me, one of the most important aspects of speaking another language is having self-confidence. I have found that encouraging people to speak without fear of making mistakes is the best basis for using the language fluently. As a student of Spanish, I understand the difficulties of learning a language and therefore, I never judge and create a very relaxed practice environment. To broaden the students' knowledge of the language, I like to expose the student to a variety of subjects, such as newspaper articles and podcasts. This helps to learn vocabulary related to a wide range of subjects and to expose the student passively to the varied usages and registers of English. I find it very rewarding to see my students develop their confidence and skills. My teaching style is very proactive, and while I find it important that the student has an interest in their own education, I believe it is one of the responsibilities of a teacher to foster in the student a greater interest and passion for the subject.
