My name is Johari Gardner, and I love music! I have been a musician for over a decade, with 15 years of experience playing drums, 8 years on bass, 5 years on guitar and piano, and I've recently started learning saxophone and trombone. I have played drums and percussion in a few professional settings, as well as at many colleges and universities around the world. I am also a university student, studying to get my Master's in Music Performance. I have performed in professional settings with many notable people, such as David Benoit and Earl Klugh. My specialty is in jazz music, however, I have ample experience in all genres of music. I can read sheet music, and excel in all-things music. I also produce music, and have been making hip-hop, pop, r&b, and afrobeats for 4 years. Below are some notable things I have done. I have been teaching music theory for 5 years and drums for 4. I will begin to teach music production in the near future, as well. If there's one thing that I've learned from teaching, it's that it is very important for a student and teacher to have a strong bond that allows for a student to feel comfortable asking questions. All students have their own way of learning, and one of my primary teaching methods is repeating and rephrasing, so I can appeal to many different learning styles. Students have many different ways of receiving information, and I want to cater to that. Hey there! :) I'm Lina. I hold Master of Arts Degree in Music Education and Qualified Teacher Status obtained in England. I studied piano and accordion performance, improvisation, composition and music theory. Since then I have been traveling the world playing music and teaching it to students from all around the world including the UK, USA, France, Poland, Oman, China, Vietnam, Thailand and Caribbean Islands. Being a traveling educator taught me to be very sensitive to diverse needs of each individual and to provide student-centered education that supports unique student’s goals and aspirations. Currently I accept students from the age of 6 to learn with me the art of playing piano and/or accordion - both very unique and mesmerizing instruments! I will teach you how to play beautiful french and italian music that stands at the core of accordion and piano's glory, but also darker and more complex music of the Balkans or South America (like tango), that will turn heads of anyone witnessing you play. As an academically trained musician I always include classical repertoire in my course as I believe any well-rounded musician should be familiar with and able to perform classical pieces. Like all other instruments, piano and accordion have evolved greatly in recent years. I will show you how you can use these instruments to play modern music including jazz and contemporary, but also popular styles like rock, pop, hip-hop or electronic music. After years of education and gained experience I use a mixture of different methods, creating and adjusting my course to each student's specific goals and aspirations. Here's How I teach: 1. TECHNIQUE: I use a blend of methods based on F. Chopin’s approach, supported by the Alexander Technique. This helps students develop a brilliant playing technique while avoiding injuries and bad habits that can hinder progress. 2. THEORY: We learn music theory using methods from E. Jaques-Dalcroze, C. Orff, Suzuki, and E. Gordon. These methods focus on learning through experience, active listening, and playing, rather than just studying from a book. Research shows that these methods are significantly more effective than traditional approaches. 3. MATERIALS: I use a mix of the latest international method books, such as Faber, McIntosh-Johnson, Piano Adventures, Piano Safari, and WunderKeys. I also keep in mind the exam requirements if your child needs or wants to take any. 4. REPERTOIRE: We explore a variety of music styles, including classical, contemporary, jazz, but also rock, pop, hip-hop, folk and all in between! We also work on arranging pieces for different performance levels and work on developing personal style. 5. IMPROVISATION: We learn how to improvise from the very first lesson. It’s easier than you might think and gives a great sense of freedom at the instrument as well as promotes creativity and prepares you for playing in duos, bands etc. 6. COMPOSITION: I’ll show students how to start composing and writing their own songs. 7. Music Production: If interested, we can also explore music production using software like Ableton or free alternatives. I strongly believe that learning musical language should be approached as learning any language - by practicing speaking it as soon and as much as possible. That's why, when you learn with me, we go straight to the instrument, playing from the first moment. By using small and consistent steps you will comfortably speak the language of music, in time being able to create longer and longer phrases and sentences, making your own music and to read existing music in a more efficient and fluent manner. Most of all my teaching style is about the relationship between me and each individual student, so really it's ever changing and flexible. Just like our goals, dreams and abilities.

Tengo años de experiencia formando y motivando alumnos de todos los niveles con guitarra eléctrica, acústica, clásica, bajo e iniciación en el piano. Enseño armonía musical, lectura de partitura, improvisación, técnica, desarrollo de oido, composición y mucho mas pasando por diversos estilos como el blues, funk, rock, jazz, pop, reggae, música clásica… La metodología que utilizo guarda los mismo pilares en todas mis clases pero dependiendo del conocimiento y situación de cada alumno me amoldo por completo a sus necesidades. Los alumnos en la gran mayoría de los casos, es decir si prestan atención a mis indicaciones durante la lección ademas de practicar y estudiar en casa durante la semana, muestran una gran evolución desde la primera clase, familiarizando conceptos musicales y siendo capaces de trasladarlos y visualizarlos en el instrumento. No soy un profesor que tan solo te diga como poner los dedos, llego al origen del entendimiento armónico, melódico y rítmico, hago que lo entiendas y comprendas, y luego que seas capaz de captarlo en la guitarra.

My name is Bernice Musu` and I am from Malta. I started violin when I was 15 years old ( today I am 29 years old ) and yes it is never to late to start violin . I have to admit that is the best thing I ever did in my whole life :) ! Today I am a freelance violin performer. I perform in many different places and events such as in classical orchestras like the Malta philharmonic Orchestra, chamber ensembles, solo and also with my own string quartet. As a musician, I am quiet versatile ,performing from classical to contemporary :) Another thing that I really love to do is giving violin and theory of music lessons. I love teaching students of any age and level and it is very satisfying when you share the skill with others! :) My aim is to guide and inspire my students to become good musicians .I adapt lessons according to the student's level and needs and also try to make it fun as possible ! Although I follow the classical education , I give lessons for different genres of music too . In the lessons I will also provide materials such as practice sheets and I try my best to make my students comfortable as much as possible :) My schedule is quiet flexible and at a reasonable price :)

Mis clases son personalizadas, seguimos varios métodos de estudio diseñados especialmente para violín, pero al final me agrada adaptar todo al 100% a las necesidades de aprendizaje de mis alumnos. Clases muy dinámicas, prácticas pero con elementos de teoría musical. Inicie mis estudios en academias particulares, y la Escuela de Iniciación Artistica No. 4 del INBA, para posteriormente continuar mis estudios con profesores particulares, como el Maestro Gamaliel Flores Cervantes, violinista de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Bellas Artes. He dado clases de forma particular y en academias de música, logrando llevar a mis alumnos al nivel necesario que exige un escenario profesional, o bien un estudio de grabación. Pongo especial atención en la técnica, postura, calentamiento y el cuidado físico de mis alumnos, para con ello evitar lesiones futuras. Y más pronto de lo que imaginas estarás tocando repertorio de tu elección, pero sin dejar de lado la práctica de escalas y diversos ejercicios de reconocidos métodos en la enseñanza violinística, que te llevarán a los mejores resultados con el instrumento. No hay límite de edad, pues nunca es demasiado tarde para comenzar a aprender este maravilloso instrumento, y siempre habrá una meta a corto mediano o largo plazo que fijarnos, y lo más importante, que cumplir y con ello obtener la gran satisfacción que deja este hermoso instrumento.
