I'm Zixuan. I hold a Master's degree from the University of Sheffield, and I did my undergraduate in Broadcasting and Hosting in China – that's a specialised programme focused on professional Mandarin pronunciation and voice training.
I also love British dramas, American shows, and Japanese anime. If you're into any of these, we can totally use your favourite lines as practice material – way more fun than boring textbooks, right?
Now, here's what makes me different from a typical Chinese teacher.
My broadcasting background isn't just about "speaking standard Mandarin" – I've been through a full system of pronunciation correction training. So when you mispronounce a sound, I don't just say "try again." I can tell exactly what's going on: your tongue is too far forward, too far back, your lips aren't rounded enough, or your vocal cords aren't vibrating properly. And more importantly, I'll tell you exactly where to move and how to adjust it – so you actually fix it, not just repeat it.
And because I lived in the UK for a year, I know too well what it feels like to be afraid of making mistakes. That's why in my class, you can speak freely – mistakes are welcome. I'll walk with you until it feels effortless.
I don't use a fixed textbook – everything is tailored to your goals:
Absolute beginner → Start with pinyin and tones, step by step.
Everyday conversation → Ordering food, asking for directions, chatting about life – whatever you need.
Business Chinese → Professional expressions, meeting simulations – we can set that up too.
