"per imparare bene una lingua bisogna andare dove la parlano", "se non l'hai imparata da piccolo non la impari più", “fortunato te che sei portato”, "vai da mia cugina del piano di sotto: lei almeno è madrelingua!".
Se anche tu ti sei sentito dire almeno una di queste cose, sappi che sei stato esposto a una bufala sull'apprendimento linguistico. Mi chiamo Giulia e sono un'interprete di conferenza che lavora primariamente da e verso il francese (par farti capire, immagina quelle persone che al parlamento europeo traducono in cuffia). Per poter svolgere la mia professione, ho dovuto raggiungere il livello QCER C2 in tutte le mie lingue di lavoro. Questa soglia di padronanza equivale, secondo il Quadro Comune Europeo di Riferimento per le Lingue, alla competenza di un parlante madrelingua.
È talento? No, è tecnica. Ho adottato un approccio scientifico, assolutamente generalizzabile, basato sul modo in cui il cervello apprende. Eh sì, esiste una scienza dell’apprendimento linguistico. E questa scienza spiega perché, dopo oltre dieci anni di “studio”, l’italiano medio non riesce a sostenere una conversazione che vada oltre il semplice: “ciao, come stai?” in alcuna lingua straniera. Il motivo è semplice: la tecnica utilizzata nelle scuole è antiscientifica e inefficace; si basa su paradigmi vecchi di un secolo e pensati per lo studio delle lingue antiche, non di quelle moderne. Ripetizioni a pappagallo (gatto=cat), regolette grammaticali studiate a memoria e (ovviamente!) subito dimenticate, esercizi di consolidamento innaturali, pochissimo ascolto, traduzioni a sproposito e tediosissime infinite trascritture di frasi e vocaboli. Esattamente il contrario di quello che la scienza suggerisce a proposito della didattica delle lingue moderne. Quando non si raggiungono risultati soddisfacenti con questi metodi, la scusa è dietro l’angolo, nella forma di bufale ancora diffusissime sull’apprendimento linguistico: non hai imparato perché non vivi all’estero, perché non sei abbastanza giovane, perché il tuo insegnante non è madrelingua o ancora - la più frustrante di tutte - perchè semplicemente non sei portato. In quanto interprete professionista che ha imparato il francese da adulta, senza mai mettere piede in Francia, questi e altri miti sull’apprendimento linguistico mi fanno ribollire il sangue.
Nel corso della mia formazione, lingua dopo lingua, ho sviluppato un metodo che permette di raggiungere la piena competenza in tutte le aree linguistiche (ascolto, espressione orale, lettura, scrittura), sfruttando le potenzialità del cervello umano adulto. Per oltre sette anni, l’ho affinata tramite lo studio della didattica delle lingue, della pedagogia e delle neuroscienze. Questo mi ha portata ad accompagnare decine di studenti in un percorso di apprendimento e potenziamento linguistico personalizzato, con risultati sempre gratificanti, dal voto a scuola alla certificazione linguistica di livello avanzato.
