Hello, I’m Xiaoyuan, a native Chinese girl. I love teaching Chinese and enjoy chatting and exchanging ideas with students from all over the world. I have five years of Chinese teaching experience. I first taught Chinese in public primary schools, and have been teaching online for more than two years now. Over these years, I’ve taught students from many countries, including Poland, Yemen, Japan, the United States and Thailand. These experiences have helped me figure out common pain‑points for foreign Chinese learners and how to help them overcome these difficulties. I hold a Level‑2‑A Mandarin certificate and a Chinese teaching qualification certificate. In class, I use pictures, real‑life scenarios and short videos to help you understand. I adapt my lessons to your goals and interests. Whether it’s new characters, vocabulary or grammar, I always explain them with vivid, relatable examples. For instance, I love using fun techniques to help my students memorize Chinese characters. Take the “add‑on” method: the character 日 (sun) plus 月 (moon) makes 明 (bright). The sun and the moon together bring brightness. Another example: 朋 (friend) is made of two 月 characters: 月 + 月 = 朋. We also use the “subtract‑off” method. Remove one horizontal stroke from 大 (big), and you get 人 (person). It’s easy to remember. The “swap‑radical” method is also fun. Change the water radical of 清 (clear) to the sun radical, and you get 晴 (sunny) — the character for sunny days. Most characters with the water radical relate to water, while those with the sun radical relate to weather. Look at 休 (rest): on the left is a person, on the right is a tree (木 means tree). A person leans against a tree when tired — that is “to rest”. Isn’t it easy to remember? Many people think Chinese characters are hard, but with the right methods, they can be really enjoyable. I will use these approaches to help you discover effective ways and the joy of learning Chinese in our lessons. I apply these teaching methods in every class, combining pictures, real‑life situations and dialogues so you can learn Chinese effortlessly.
